Huawei, the Chinese handset manufacturer, has announced the launch of an Android tablet called Smakit S7 for the Indian market. Huawei says it will ship the Smakit S7 to India on September 6, after a delay of one month from the date it had earlier announced. Huawei Smakit S7 has a Qualcomm SnapDragon ARM processor, and runs the 2.2 version of Google Android operating system. It boasts a 7 inch WVGA touchscreen with 800 x 480 pixel resolution.
Huawei Smakit S7 Specs:
Huawei’s Smakit S7 is a 7 inch tablet with a scroll wheel, and a display with resolution of 800X480 pixel. The tablet supports 720 pixel high definition video playback. The Smakit S7 can be operated with one’s fingernails and does not necessarily require a stylus because it has a resistive display. However, this could be a drawback since resistive screens are usually less responsive than capacitive screens. Apple’s iPad is a device that uses a capacitive screen. The Huawei Smakit S7 Android internet tablet weighs 500 gram and has a battery life of about 4 hours while playing 720 pixel high definition video.
The Smakit S7 supports 3G voice as well as data, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and HSPA/UMTS 3G connectivity. It further has an HDMI out dock, two USB 2.0 ports, and two microSDHC slots which can be used to increase the phone’s memory. The Huawei device also has a 3.2 megapixel camera. And something playing on the Smakit S7 can simultaneously be displayed on screens of other devices such as TVs, PCs, and other handsets running on Android.
The Smakit S7 has a Qualcomm SnapDragon ARM processor, and runs the 2.1 version of Google Android operating system for mobile phones. Since it runs on Android, consumers have a choice of about 70,000 applications that are available from the Android Market website. Hardware-wise, any product that runs Android 2.1 could run the latest version Android 2.2 Froyo – so it might be possible to upgrade easily.
Huawei’s Smakit S7 tablet is the second Android tablet in the Indian market so far. The first was Indian handset maker Olive Communications’ Olivepad VT100 3G tablet. The Olivepad, however, runs Android 1.6. Also Govt. of India has announced a 35$ Android tablet PC for students. Huawei recently announced that it will soon sell smartphones in India that will run on Google’s operating system Android.
Huawei Smakit S7 now available in India at price of Rs. 14,000 approx.
