LG Optimus One Finally to Get Android 2.3 Gingerbread Update

LG has finally announced that it will be updating all the Optimus One Series smartphone to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Recently South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics has announced via a Facebook post that there won't be an Android 2.3 Gignerbread update for its LG Optimus series and after a lots of confusion and fake statements finally its time to rejoice for more than two million owner of  LG Optimus One smartphone.

Previously LG told that Optimus line won't be getting the Gingerbread update because they have a 600MHz processor,and the minimum requirements for Gingerbread require 1 GHz processor. In other words: it's not possible to update the processor, unfortunately. LG has launched several versions of Optimus One in United States market, while in other countries it has been launched as Optimus One only. So, all the versions of Optimus One will get Gingerbread update. Also this means that all other low-priced Android phones will be supported to get this major OS update. 


Now according to LG's new public notice on their site, "LG will upgrade all Optimus One smartphones currently using the Froyo OS to the next version of the Android OS, Gingerbread. Details of the upgrade schedule will be announced locally in due course. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and misunderstanding that was caused regarding this issue."


Till date over two million LG Optimus One units shipped globally. In a statement today LG said, “The Optimus One reached 1 million sales in about 40 days from its launch in mid-November. And in about 20 days, another 1 million phones were delivered.” Now after Optimus One will receive Android 2.3 update, the sales will surely increase.
